ASALH Association for the Study of African American Life and History
Education. Preservation. Celebration.
Founded on September 9, 1915, by Carter G. Woodson and other distinguished leaders, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) was established to affirm that Africans and people of African descent are makers of history. Through education, research, and community engagement, ASALH promotes and preserves Black history and honors the lasting contributions of Black Americans. Continuing this mission, the local chapter invites you to a community gathering celebrating reckoning, remembrance, and renewal, featuring youth from Fluvanna, Goochland, and Louisa counties. Join us as we reflect, learn, and move forward together in truth and purpose.
