National Day of Prayer Thursday May 7, 2026, Goochland Recreational Center Sandy Hook Road

Despite the rain and dreary weather forecast, the National Day of Prayer was observed on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Goochland Recreational Center beginning at 12:00 noon, as churches, community members, civic leaders, and citizens from throughout Goochland County gathered together in unity for a powerful time of worship, prayer, reflection, and encouragement for our nation.

The significance of the National Day of Prayer continues to remind us of the importance of seeking God for healing, wisdom, peace, and guidance for our communities and our country during challenging times. The gathering reflected a spirit of faith, unity, and togetherness as diverse churches and organizations came together with one common purpose — to pray for the nation and for one another.

A special highlight of the program was the participation of our own Pastor Charles G. Gilliam III of Fauquier Baptist Church, who led prayer and delivered a powerful and inspiring message. Pastor Gilliam reminded those in attendance that we must “practice what we preach” and emphasized that our nation must return to integrity, responsibility, and self-control if we truly desire positive change and healing within our communities and throughout the country.

This meaningful program served as a reminder that prayer still matters, and that faith, unity, and action remain essential as we continue working together for a stronger nation, stronger communities, and a brighter future for all.
