Grace and peace be unto you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As we enter this sacred and joyful season of Advent, we pause to prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ — the Light who came into the world. Advent, meaning “coming” or “arrival,” invites us into a time of anticipation, reflection, hope, and spiritual renewal.
With great joy, Fauquier Baptist Church invites you to join us for our annual Hanging of the Greens Celebration, a beautiful Christian tradition that marks the beginning of the Advent season.
The Hanging of the Greens traces its origins back to early Christian practices, when believers decorated their homes and worship spaces with evergreens — symbols of everlasting life and God’s never-ending love. Today, churches around the world honor this tradition as we prepare God’s house and our hearts for the coming of Christ.
This meaningful service allows us to decorate the sanctuary with wreaths, garlands, candles, and symbols of the nativity while hearing Scripture readings that remind us of the true reason for the season.
We are delighted to share that the Gospel Music Workshop of Goochland & Vicinity will be our musical guest, blessing us with worshipful selections that uplift the spirit and honor the birth of our Savior.
We encourage each of you — members, families, friends, and visitors — to join us as we celebrate Christ’s coming with worship, fellowship, and unity.
This year’s celebration is coordinated by Deaconess Jane Allen Bowles, and we are grateful for her dedication and leadership in preparing this special service.
