Seniors and Veterans Community Workshop Brings Resources, Education, and Fellowship to Goochland
Fauquier Baptist Church was honored to host a free Seniors and Veterans Community Workshop, bringing together local organizations, businesses, veterans, seniors, caregivers, and community members for a day of education, fellowship, and valuable resources on Saturday June 20, 2026, at the Goochland Recreational Center located on Sandy Hook Road in Goochland VA
The workshop was made possible through a grant from the Baptist General Convention of Virginia and reflected the church’s commitment to serving the community beyond its walls. Participants received information on programs and services designed to improve their quality of life, promote healthy living, and connect them with agencies that are available to assist throughout the year.
Representatives from several organizations shared valuable information on topics including senior services, veterans’ benefits, financial wellness, emergency preparedness, health resources, library services, recreation opportunities, energy assistance, and community support. Each presenter demonstrated a genuine commitment to serving the residents of Goochland County and surrounding communities.
Special thanks are extended to all of our participating organizations and vendors, including Goochland Cares, the Goochland County Library, Goochland Fire-Rescue, the Goochland Sheriff’s Office, Virginia Credit Union, Dominion Energy, Dignity Memorial, Call Caption, and all others who generously shared their time, knowledge, and resources.
We are especially grateful to Dignity Memorial for providing refreshments, cookies, cake, tea, and beverages, which added a warm and welcoming atmosphere of hospitality and fellowship throughout the day.
Although community attendance was smaller than anticipated, those who participated found the workshop informative, engaging, and beneficial. The positive feedback received has encouraged Fauquier Baptist Church to continue offering similar outreach events in the future with the goal of reaching even more seniors, veterans, and caregivers throughout our community.
Fauquier Baptist Church remains committed to being a resource for the community by providing educational programs, outreach opportunities, and events that enrich lives while demonstrating God’s love through service.
